Texas A&M University150th Celebration
October 4, 2026 – May 2027In 2026, Texas A&M University invites Aggies everywhere to stand together to celebrate 150 years as a force for good in Texas, the nation and beyond. What began as the state’s first land-grant institution with just 40 students and six faculty members has grown into a university serving more than 81,000 students with over 4,300 faculty across multiple locations. The 150th Celebration – our sesquicentennial – will remember our past, embrace our present and dream our future, engaging faculty, staff, students, former students and the broader Aggie Family from every corner of the world.
Timeline
The official celebration will commence the week of October 4, 2026, 150 years since the university’s doors opened, with a prelude of activities beginning in spring 2026. It will conclude in May 2027 following the final commencement ceremonies.

Ways to Get Involved as a Student
Student volunteers will be essential to the success of the 150th Celebration. A student-focused committee will develop plans and opportunities for students to be engaged throughout the process.
- Host
- Organize your own event or partner with a registered student organization to celebrate the 150th anniversary.
- Participate
- Join established events such as Muster, Howdy Week and others that align with the anniversary celebration.
- Serve
- Represent Texas A&M by promoting the university’s legacy and spirit during anniversary activities.
- Engage
- Use social media and other channels to express what it means to be part of the Aggie Family and share anniversary-related content.
Ways to Get Involved as a Faculty Member
Faculty are the backbone of the university and have been a key ingredient to the university’s success over the last 150 years. Their involvement in the planning and execution of the celebration will be crucial to its success.
- Enhance
- Consider how the 150th anniversary may enhance those events, either from a thematic or branding standpoint.
- Host
- Explore ways to celebrate your discipline’s contributions to the university’s history or how your area of study has progressed over the past 150 years.
- Teach
- Incorporate the milestone into course curriculum, projects or other hands-on learning opportunities. Examples: art installations, thematic student assignments, college or school history discussions.
- Participate
- Participate in these and other university events for the 150th anniversary.
Ways to Get Involved as a Staff Member
Our staff will be critical to the success of the 150th Celebration.
- Host
- Plan a celebration specific to your division or department that aligns with the 150th anniversary.
- Share
- Highlight how your unit has contributed to or evolved alongside Texas A&M’s history.
- Participate
- Join campuswide anniversary events to show your support and involvement.
Ways to Get Involved as a Community Member
The Bryan-College Station and surrounding community in which our institution operates helps shape the experience of our students and the way of life for our faculty and staff. We look forward to celebrating this milestone moment with them.
- Participate
- We will be opening up our main campus for key events and inviting local community members to learn about our history, both in Bryan-College Station as well as our branch campuses and teaching sites across the state and nation.
- Collaborate
- We invite local organizations and city leaders to collaborate with our Office for Community Engagement on local opportunities to celebrate the history of Texas A&M. Our community engagment subcommittee is helping to shape those events as part of the 150th Celebration.
