Group Visit Guidelines
Thank you for your group's interest in visiting Texas A&M University! The Appelt Aggieland Visitor Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We will make every effort to accommodate any requests your group may have; however, all tours and sessions are scheduled based on staff availability. Please note that the Visitor Center is closed when the university closes for observed holidays.
Appointments
- Campus Tours — A tour of the Texas A&M University campus is available Monday through Friday when the university is open. The Visitor Center staff can provide student tour guides for walking or driving tours of campus. The visiting group must provide transportation for driving tours.
- Freshman Admissions and/or Financial Aid Sessions — The Visitor Center will arrange for representatives from the Prospective Student Center and Scholarships & Financial Aid to talk with the group. Please note that there may be other visitors attending these group sessions as well.
- Academic Areas — Students can visit with representatives from their academic area of interest; however, we ask that these be done on an individual basis to most benefit the prospective student.
- Special Tours — Tours of various facilities on campus can be arranged depending on departmental availability and group size. Most departments prefer groups to be at least 15 years of age and limit the number of the group to 15 to 20 people.
- School Bus Parking — With advance notice, the Visitor Center or Office of Admissions staff are able to coordinate school bus parking with Texas A&M University Transportation Services.
- Dining Facilities — Groups are welcome to eat lunch at Sbisa Dining Hall, which is $8.25 per person for an all-you-can-eat buffet, or at the various dining facilities around campus, which are regular cash operations. Groups that eat in the Sbisa Dining Hall may be billed or pay cash at the door.
We strive to provide a safe, fun and informative visit. All visiting groups are asked to read these guidelines and abide by them while on campus:
Group Requirements
- Supervision — Per university risk management guidelines, groups must have at least one adult for every 10 students visiting Texas A&M University to ensure safety and to maintain order. These chaperones must remain with the group at all times.
- Timeliness — Part of what makes a campus visit experience unique is that many of the activities associated with a visit to Texas A&M University are conducted by current students. Group leaders are asked to make every effort to be on time for all scheduled tours/presentations. If the group foresees being late, we ask that the group leader contact the Visitor Center at the number provided on the group's itinerary. We also ask that the group leader provide a cell phone contact number to the Visitor Center and/or the Office of Admissions as a means for the university to contact the group if needed. Please note that scheduled activities may need to be shortened or cancelled for groups arriving more than 10 minutes late.
- Advance Planning — Students should be organized into groups with their assigned chaperones prior to arriving on campus. Group members will refrain from using electronic devices such as cellphones, mp3 players or iPods while participating in tours or presentations. If any members of the group have special needs, please notify us in advance so that we may accommodate your request or connect you with the appropriate services.
- Discipline & Control — The group coordinator and chaperones are responsible for disciplining and controlling students while on the Texas A&M University campus. The group should respect the facilities they use (i.e. pick up any food or paper supplies used by the group). The visiting organization will be held responsible for any damages that may occur to the scheduled facilities during their visit.
