Tour Guide Position Description
The primary goal of the Appelt Aggieland Visitor Center is to provide accurate information on guided tours and at the information desk, to schedule campus visits for prospective students and other campus guests, and to furnish any additional assistance that a visitor may need. A tour guide is a university host to the 60,000 people who visit campus annually. We currently offer campus tours Monday – Saturday throughout the year.
Staff Responsibilities
- Greet and receive visitors to campus in a friendly manner
- Provide accurate information and directions
- Answer telephone inquiries
- Schedule academic appointments and sessions for prospective students
- Coordinate campus visits for university guests
- Conduct walking and driving tours of campus
- Assist with Marketing & Communications projects and programs
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Complete other duties as assigned
- Work on weekends and during final exams. (All staff members are required to sign up to work two weekend shifts during the semester and eight hours during final examinations.)
- Work Aggieland Saturday and other designated campus visitations programs as needed.
- Summer Sessions – Must be able to work summer session I and/or II
- Academic Year – Must commit to work both the fall and spring semesters, except during university holidays. (An exception may be considered for December graduating seniors and students that participate in a study abroad program.)
