With the Spring, 2001 list, Winedale offers its first
fiction: C.W. Smith's riveting new novel Gabriel's Eye
(his sixth) and Laura Furman's new short story collection,
Drinking with the Cook.
They are joined by My Prostate and Me, a new edition of
William Martin's highly praised memoir on surviving prostate
cancer. It includes an informative essay from Memorial
Sloan-Kettering's Peter Scardino, M.D. that details the
latest information on treating this increasingly prevalent
disease.
Our growing backlist remains concentrated in creative non-
fiction, most recently with our reprint of Leon Hale's
first book, Turn South at the Second Bridge, that was
published originally by Doubleday and has attained the
stature of folk history. We have now succeeded in returning
to print seven of Hale's ten books, including the classic
novel, Bonney's Place.
Our individual website (www.winedalebooks.com) gives details
of all our books, which are available from bookstores
nationwide, as well as directly, through this consortium.
Reading groups are a principal focus of the Winedalebooks
website. The thought-provoking nature of several of our
titles seems particularly appropriate to the kind of
discussion book groups most enjoy. Among the titles we
currently recommend to groups are Gabriel's Eye, Drinking
with the Cook, Ordinary Paradise, Bonney's Place, Addison,
and Paper Hero.
Winedale Publishing is an independent publisher, founded
in 1996, that specializes in literary fiction and creative
non-fiction. Our intention is to remain small in order to
lavish on each manuscript a high level of editorial and
promotional attention. Although we read unsolicited
manuscripts, as well as those from agents, please query
first with a sample chapter. Queries may be sent by email
to editors@winedalebooks.com, or to our mailing address.
