Congratulations!
Now that your manuscript has been accepted for publication, the "real" work begins! Taking a book from concept to finished publication is a complicated, time-consuming task, involving the efforts of the author, often several editors, design and typesetting professionals, and, finally, printers and binders. Because of the complexity of the process, it's very important that your manuscript be prepared and submitted in a way that makes clear your intentions as an author. It is also essential that you put all necessary materials in the hands of your project editor, to insure efficient and accurate handling at this crucial stage.
Your acquisitions editor will provide you with two checklists of items that must be included with your manuscript package: one for you to use as an inventory of needed elements (click here to view), and another indicating the various sections you intend for your finished book to have (click here to view). Your close attention to these lists will greatly facilitate the timely handling and editing of your book. Also note that you must include all permissions for copyrighted materials, including quoted excerpts, photographs, and illustrations (click here to view permissions form).
