Abstract

Boys are politically incorrect. Their raucous style of play makes a lot of adults very nervous. They are the one group of Americans who are not eager to talk about their feelings. It is now the fashion in many elementary school classrooms to try to tame boys, to calm them down and to make them behave more like girls. Will it work? Is this a good idea? Christina Hoff Sommers will argue that the answer to both questions is no.
