Educational Environment Council
Purpose: To provide the President and the
Executive Vice President and Provost with thoughtful, cohesive,
coordinated action plans for the campus' academic community that:
- Stimulate intellectual growth and creativity
- Promote the advancement of premier programs
- Foster the growth of nascent programs
The Council seeks to accomplish these goals in an environment of
cross-disciplinary cooperation and exchange. The activities of and the
issues brought before the Council will clearly play a key role as the
university advances towards the goals of Vision 2020.
The Council will advise on issues including but not limited to
the following.
- Evaluation and continuous improvement of educational programs
and majors.
- Evaluation and practice of enrollment management.
- Integration of the research experience throughout all levels
of the educational experience.
- Status of the balance of the teaching and research obligations
of the faculty.
- Opportunities for faculty development
- Interplay between academic excellence and the built
environment (in collaboration with the Built Environment Council).
- Collaborations of the Division of Academic Affairs with the
Division of Student Affairs.
