Sarah Elias |
Sarah Elias is a junior business major from Dallas, Texas. While at Texas A&M, Sarah has been actively involved with College Republicans and Breathe Hope, serving as an officer in both organizations. In Washington, Sarah will be interning for the Department of Defense, Office of Legislative Counsel.

Ashley Faddis |
Ashley Faddis is an incoming junior international studies major from Plano, Texas. Since being at Texas A&M, she has been very actively involved with Alpha Phi Omega, a service organization. Ashley is also extremely active and loves working out; she will be a fitness instructor at the Recreation Center on campus next fall. Upon graduation, Ashley plans to attend graduate school to study public policy. She then plans to work in the nonprofit sector to aid with human rights advocacy and the growth of developing nations. This summer, Ashley will be working at the International Trade Administration division of the Department of Commerce. The ITA is responsible for aiding American companies to succeed in the global economy through trade and development. Specifically, she will be working in the European department. Ashley hopes that this internship with the department of commerce will allow her practical experience in the field she endeavors to work in and will hopefully be a step towards her future. |
Winston Faltine |
Winston Faltine is a senior biology major from Venezuela. During his college career, Winston has been actively involved in several organizations and extracurricular activities. His summer experiences have been an outgrowth of his scientific and oral care interests. Last summer, Winston was fortunate to participate in a unique Pre-Dental Enrichment program at the UT-Houston Dental Branch. This program gave him an opportunity to be more prepared for dental school. At Texas A&M he has served as treasurer for the Pre- Dental Society and Health and Safety Chair for the Red Cross Club. Winston is very passionate about learning but also loves to enjoy life. He enjoys reading, dancing to Latin music, weight training, and riding his motorcycle. Winston’s future goal is to become a dentist. This summer Winston will be working at the NIH/National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, Maryland. |
Allison Harris |
Allison Harris is a class of 2010 environmental studies major from Austin, Texas who hopes to practice environmental law. While at Texas A&M she has been Director of Public Relations for the Geosciences Student Association and works as a student researcher under the Dean of Geosciences. In her spare time she loves to experiment with new recipes, read, and play with her dog. While in DC, Allison will intern for the National Rural Water Association working to ensure that every American has access to clean drinking water.

Zach Howe |
Zach Howe is a sophomore accounting major and economics minor from Jonestown, Texas. He plans to pursue his master’s degree in finance through Mays Business School’s Professional Program in Accounting. Upon completion of his master’s, he will attend law school. While at Texas A&M, Zach has been an active member of various academic organizations, including the Business, Foundations, and University Honors Programs. Zach has spent his summers interning with Germer, Gertz, Beaman, & Brown law firm and the Arnold & Placek law firm. Zach will be working with the Americans for Tax Reform in the summer of 2008. He will assist the director of tax policy on all issues related to tax policy, from the drafting of legislation through its passage. |
Brittney Johnson |
Brittney Johnson is a senior from Winnie, Texas. She is double majoring in sociology and human resource development, and will receive minors in both business and philosophy. She has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities throughout the course of her time at Texas A&M University, and is currently serving as executive director for University Awareness for Cultural Togetherness (U-ACT), a peer diversity education group. Upon her December 2008 graduation from Texas A&M University, Brittney plans to attend law school. This summer Brittney will be interning with the Center for Economic and Social Justice, a non-profit organization concerned with the development and dissemination of effective strategies relevant to economic and social justice. During her time there, Brittney will engage in research on various social topics pertaining to economic and social justice. She looks forward to the experience, and hopes to utilize the gained insight in her career as a legal professional. |
Valerie Johnson |
Valerie Johnson is a junior accounting major in the professional program from Richardson, Texas. At Texas A&M, Valerie works in the Mays Business School Development Office. She has also co-developed and taught a five-week business enhancement seminar on volunteerism and the not-for-profit sector, served as a Peer Leader and a Coordinator for the Freshman Business Initiative, and raised funds and awareness for the Prison Entrepreneurship Program as President of PEP Fundraising. Valerie also serves as a tutor at a local elementary school and a construction volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Valerie will be interning at the Department of Education Office of Communication and Outreach. She is very interested in educational policy and reform, and is excited about studying the educational system first-hand this summer. |
Kelly Nelms |
Kelly Nelms, originally from Tomball, Texas, graduated from Texas A&M University this May with a degree in Special Education. While at A&M, Kelly was a member of Delta Gamma and involved in various campus volunteer organizations. Upon graduation, Kelly will pursue a master’s in education administration while teaching at an elementary school in Northwest Houston. While in Washington, Kelly will be interning for the National Network for Youth. |
David Nyquist |
David Nyquist graduated summa cum laude from Northern Illinois University in December 2006 with a B.S. in operations and information management and a minor in economics from the College of Business. He is now currently a graduate student at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, pursuing both a master of public service and administration and a certificate in advanced international affairs. This summer he will be participating in the FBI Honors Internship Program in Washington, D.C. David’s future career goals include working within the field of national security. |
Jessica Olivares |
Jessica M. Olivares is a sociology major, class of 2009, from Brownsville, Texas. While attending Texas A&M, Jessica worked for the Texas A&M Public Policy Research Institute this past year and has been involved with Lambda Sigma, Phi Gamma Mu International Honor Society the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Student Conference on Latino Affairs. In the spring of 2008 she graduated from Texas A&M's Academy of Future International Leaders where she co-created the Aggie International Service Grant project promoting international awareness and service. She is also the student founder and director of Destino, a Latino Christian Movement on campus, which gave her the chance to serve as a temporary missionary in California and East Asia. Jessica's interests lie in demography, socioeconomics and immigration policy. She is undecided on whether she wants to pursue graduate school for applied public policy or sociology. While in Washington, D.C. she will be working with Meyers and Associates. |
Andrew Ramirez |
Andrew Ramirez is a political science major from Midlothian & Waxahachie, Texas. During his tenure at Texas A&M University, he worked to found and lead a student unity organization called Aggies United. This organization helps to unite people from different cultures through philanthropic work and social events, emphasizing respect and communication while preserving a student's self-identity. In his free time, Andrew enjoys reading philosophy, playing racquetball, traveling and spending time with friends.Upon graduating in May 2009, he plans to attend law school and pursue a political career in Washington, D.C. This summer Andrew will be working for "Teach for America." His work will include the planning of a regional university campus recruitment campaign, as well as working with the national office to promote organizational interests to our representatives and lobbyist. While in Washington, Andrew hopes to gain valuable experience and knowledge of our educational system. |
Chelsea Sanders |
Chelsea Sanders is a senior international studies: politics and diplomacy track major at Texas A&M. She has completed a minor in both Spanish and sociology. During her years at Texas A&M she has been involved with Aggie Habitat for Humanity, Autism Awareness programs, Ride for a Dream: Jennifer Ann Foundation, and Roadrunners. Her interests include autism education, Latin American politics, foreign affairs, bilingual education, and social equality. Following her internship this summer she will graduate in December. After graduation she plans on attending law school or pursuing a master’s degree in public policy. |
Sherry Spacek |
Sherry Spacek is a senior psychology major from Dime Box, Texas and plans to graduate from Texas A&M in August 2008. She is interested in healthcare and energy policy. Sherry has served in several leadership positions in the MSC L.T. Jordan Institute for International Awareness and has worked for the Honors Programs since beginning her degree at Texas A&M. She is also a dedicated volunteer at Health for All, Inc. a non-profit clinic in Bryan that provides healthcare services for uninsured citizens of the local area. Upon graduation from Texas A&M, Sherry plans to attend medical school and her long-term goal is to become a physician for an underserved urban or rural community.

Hayley Webb |
Hayley Webb is a May 2008 graduate from Bridgeport, Texas with a degree in communication and a minor in business. While at Texas A&M, Hayley was Co-Director of the Aggie Orientation Leader Program, a member of Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society and a student worker in Student Activities. While in Washington, Hayley will be interning for Congressman Ted Poe from Texas. She hopes to obtain a full time job after her internship and continue working in DC. Hayley plans on attending law school and pursuing a career in politics or political journalism. |
