Prospective Students

The Professional Program in Biotechnology (PPiB) is an interdisciplinary graduate program at Texas A&M University. The program is supported by researchers from the College of Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Business, and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

We are looking for students who have a strong interest in combining science with business. Students can enter the program either in spring, summer or fall semesters.

Students completing this program are awarded a Master of Biotechnology (MBIOT) degree from Texas A&M University. This is a non-thesis Masters program. In lieu of a thesis the students will complete a professional portfolio that documents the professional development of the student.

The program consists of a required core curriculum of courses (lecture and laboratory-based), a set of electives (customized to the students interests and career plans) and a required biotechnology industry professional internship.

The graduates of this program have found exciting positions in the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology industry, medical devices industry, the legal profession, and in academic research and development.

The faculty involved in this program is from across Texas A&M University and they bring outstanding credentials and expertise. The students have the ability to obtain hands-on training in a variety of biotechnologies during the course of studies.

Since this is not a research-based graduate program we DO NOT offer research or teaching assistantships. However, we do offer scholarships on a competitive basis that can help reduce or waive out-of-state tuition.
