Program
The Professional Program in Biotechnology will prepare graduates with an understanding of science, business, and communication. This is achieved through a curriculum that includes course work in molecular biology, laboratory experience in molecualr biology techniques, management, finance, accounting course work, and a biotechnology industry internship in the final semester.
Students will gain practical experience through industry internships, campus research opportunities, and interacting with a highly acclaimed Biotechnology Program Advisory Council. The program is supported by a team of faculty members from across Texas A&M University.
Students completing the program will obtain a Master of Biotechnology (MBIOT) degree and are also eligible for a Certificate in Business from Texas A&M University.
Program Design
The program focuses on experiential learning. Critical components of the program are:
- A series of graduate-level courses providing the core knowledge of science.
- Courses in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Business, Accounting, Finance and Journalism
- Integration across the curriculum to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- A semester long industry internship
- Completion of a Professional Portfolio, documenting the individual's competencies and achievements.
- A Biotechnology Industry Advisory Council.
