Required Courses
ACCT 640: Accounting Concepts and Procedures I (3 Credit Hours).
Accounting concepts and relationships essential to administrative decisions; use of accounting statements and reports as policymaking and policy execution tools. Prerequisite : Graduate classification.
BIOT 601/602: Biotechnology Principles and Techniques I & II (4/4 Credit Hours).
Basic theories and techniques essential to laboratory research in agriculture, environmental and medical industries; laboratory safety; record keeping, genome informatics; analysis of DNA, RNA, protein, and biological systems; application of theories and principles in an individual and team oriented laboratory setting. Prerequisite : Approval of instructor.
BIOT 603: Applied Principles of Biotechnology (4 Credit Hours)
Applied experience with biotechnology laboratory procedures and instrumentation in a research environment. Some students are required to take BIOT 603 a second time as a designated elective. This can be substituted for Dept 685.
BIOT 689: Molecular Biotechnology (3 Credit Hours).
Theory and application of molecular biotechnology. Consideration of the structure and function of cellular components and methods to characterize these components with reference to examples in industry.
BIOT 684: Directed Professional Internship (4 Credit Hours).
Career oriented industry internship to provide on-the-job training with professionals in an organizational setting specific for the student's professional objectives.
FINC 635: Financial Management for Non-Business (3 Credit Hours).
External and internal factors affecting financial decision-making in the firm; fundamental concepts of accounting and managerial economics.
BIOT 689: Special Topics in Biotechnology Writing (3 Credit Hours).
This course is designed for Biotechnology majors to enhance their ability to write effectively about biotechnology and biotechnology-related topics. It is aimed at strengthening basic writing and editorial skills. .
MGMT 655: Survey of Management (3 Credit Hours).
Management concepts and applications important to managers in all types and sizes of organizations.
MRKT 621: Survey of Marketing (3).
Marketing concepts and functions from the point of the organization and the economy.
GENE 431: Molecular Genetics (3).
If not taken prior to entering the program, this course must be taken and can be used as an elective.Page 2
