Spam filtering for Eudora Create a Spam mailbox to transfer suspected Spam. Select Tools -> Filters from the menu bar. Click on New for each filter you want to create. Then enter the following information. 1. Check the "Match Incoming" box 2. Enter into the Header box: X-Perlmx-Spam 3. Select "contains" from the pull-down menu, and then enter the string for which you want to search into the text box to the right. 4. Select "Transfer To" from the Action pull-down menu, and then click the button to the right to browse for the "Spam" mailbox created above. 5. Optionally, select "Skip Rest" from the second Action pull-down menu. This will cause the scanning of subsequent rules in the list to stop. The next message will be scanned from the top of the list. The ordering of rules in the list can affect overall filter operation. I transfer to the spam mailbox email with a percentage greater than 70% using "Gage=XXXXXXX" where each X equals 10%.I have also chosen to always transfer to the spam mailbox email containing any of the following keywords in the X-Perlmx-Spam header line: CLICK_BELOW, CLICK_HERE_LINK, CTYPE_JUST_HTML, WEB_BUGS, PORN, RCVD_IN, and NIGERIAN_SCAM (the first three of these seem to be at the top of the daily gray mail statistics list). Below are the eight spam filters I am currently running: 1. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: Gauge=XXXXXXX; Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. 2. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: CLICK_BELOW; Action: Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. 3. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: CLICK_HERE_LINK; Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. 4. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: CTYPE_JUST_HTML; Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. 5. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: WEB_BUGS; Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. 6. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: PORN; Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. 7. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: RCVD_IN; Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. 8. Header: X-Perlmx-Spam; Contains: NIGERIAN_SCAM; Transfer->Spam followed by Skip Reset. You could certainly just use the Gauge line and play with the number of X's. My limited experience is that >60% seemed to move to the spam folder a number of good messages, so I moved it up to >70% and added the keywords above.
