Texas A&M has a strong presence in the international arena, with more than 4,000 international students enrolled from about 130 countries, most of whom are involved in graduate studies and research.

The university has a robust study-abroad program involving 50 countries, with undergraduate and graduate opportunities for internships, student exchanges, summer programs, service programs and research studies. Areas in which Texas A&M has a significant regional presence include Latin America, the European Union, Pacific Asia and the Middle East.

The university operates two overseas centers in Mexico City, Mexico and Santa Chiara, Italy, which serve students, faculty and researchers year around. Researchers and graduate students are involved in projects on every continent in the world, with more than 600 initiatives underway in more than 80 countries.

In 2003, Texas A&M and the country of Qatar entered into an agreement to bring Texas A&M's top-ranked engineering programs to the Persian Gulf Region by establishing a branch campus, funded by the Qatar Foundation. Today, Texas A&M University at Qatar enrolls nearly 200 engineering students from more than 20 countries and recently moved into one of the largest and most advanced engineering education facilities in the world.
