Ronald L. Numbers is Hilldale and William Coleman Professor of the History of Science and Medicine, Department of the History of Science, University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has written or edited more than two dozen books, including The Creationists: The Evolution of Scientific Creationism (1992), Darwinism Comes to America (1998), Wisconsin Medicine: Historical Perspectives (1981), and Disseminating Darwinism: The Role of Place, Race, Religion, and Gender (2001). Among many honors, he is past president of both the American Society of Church History and the History of Science Society, and a former Guggenheim Foundation Fellow.
