A native of the Lower Valley of Texas,
Professor Alonzo received his Ph.D. in History from Indiana
University in 1991 and has taught at Southwest Texas State
University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. His
research interests are the history of Tejanos and
Borderlands of Mexico and the U.S. He is the author of Tejano
Legacy: Rancheros and Settlers in South Texas, 1734-1900,
published by the University of New Mexico Press in 1998. With
funding from the National Research Council, he is currently
studying the history of Texas and Northern Mexico in the
period 1700-1865. |
