The Department of History at Texas A&M University
invites applications or nominations for the Melbern G.
Glasscock Endowed Chair in American History, one of the most
prestigious positions in the university. The department seeks a
distinguished scholar with an active research agenda who is
committed to undergraduate and graduate teaching and wants to
participate fully in the life of the department and the
university. Candidates in any field in American history are
welcome, but we especially encourage applications from those whose
specialization would strengthen our graduate program. This
position will remain open until filled. Applicants
should include a curriculum vitae and should request that three
letters of reference be sent.

Iberia/Iberian World

The Department of
History at Texas A&M University invites applications for a
tenure-track assistant professorship beginning in September 2009
in the history of Iberia and the Iberian World. Preference will
be given to candidates whose work is comparative and crosses
geographical or cultural borders, who examine the connections
between portions of the Iberian World, who use gender as a form
of analysis, who work in the period after 1400, and/or who
complement existing strengths in the history of the Atlantic
World. A PhD or defense of the PhD by September 1, 2009,
evidence of scholarly accomplishment or potential, and the
ability to take an active role in both graduate and
undergraduate courses are required. To ensure full consideration
