Current
Research Projects: The signals that
trigger protein sorting to the inner nuclear membrane (INM) and the mechanisms
by which this sorting occurs are not well understood. A N-terminal
sequence of 33 amino acids of the AcMNPV protein E66, has been identified
by this laboratory and determined to be sufficient to traffic fusion proteins
to occlusion-derived virus (ODV) envelopes. Additionally, chemical cross-linking
experiments have identified two other viral proteins that associate with
the 33 amino acid sorting motif (SM). It is currently my project
to determine how these protein-protein interaction affect protein trafficking
to the INM.
