Gonzales
County Historical Commission
Single best and often sole source of DeWitt Colony historical records.
Thanks to the Gonzales County Commissioners' Court who established the center, funded a
full time director and set up a board of directors in 1996, the Center is the best and
most unique organization to date for preservation and dissemination of county records
(Texas State law requires that county records be preserved and only destroyed under
special circumstances by permission of the State). Director of the Archives and Records
Center, Jean Constable, may be reached at 210-672-7970 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m.
to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
