Mays Business School (BUAD)

100. Careers in Business. (1-0). Credit 1.

Survey of careers open to business majors; development of decision making and goal setting skills for choosing a major field of study. Course must be taken on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Prerequisites: Freshman or sophomore classification; business or general studies major.

125. Business Learning Community I. (3-0). Credit 3.

Focuses on the base competencies that relate to effectively managing people, tasks and organizations, and change and innovation; develops skills in personal and professional competencies, analytical and critical thinking skills, written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills; research emphasis. Prerequisite: Selection for Mays Business School Learning Community.

126. Business Learning Community II. (3-0). Credit 3.

Focuses on the competencies that relate to managing people and organizations, and to managing change and innovation; field trips with other learning communities to explore intellectual and cultural themes in various interdisciplinary fields; research and communication skills practice. Prerequisite: Selection for Mays Business School Learning Community.

289. Special Topics in... Credit 1 to 4.

Selected topics in an identified area of business and public service. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: Freshman or sophomore in business.

300. Career Planning in Business. (1-0). Credit 1.

Survey of professional options, methods, strategies and skills involved in business career planning; explores social, cultural, economic, family and personal dimensions of various career paths; addresses goal setting and decision making. Course must be taken on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Prerequisites: Junior classification; business major.

392. Cooperative Education in Business. Credit 2. I, II, S

Educational work assignment in the field in which the student is interested. Supervision will be by employer with technical report required at semester's end. Can be taken no more than three times for credit.

401. Mays Business Fellows I. (3-0). Credit 3.

A seminar for the development of leadership and management skills. Prerequisite: Selection for Mays Business Fellows Program.

402. Mays Business Fellows II. (3-0). Credit 3.

Continuation of BUAD 401. Prerequisite: Selection for Mays Business Fellows Program.

485. Directed Studies. Credit 1 to 6.

Directed study on selected problems in the area of business administration not covered in other courses. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: Junior or senior classification; admission to upper division in Mays Business School; approval of instructor.
