Housing

On-Campus Housing

Texas A&M University provides rooms for more than 10,000 single students on the campus. Each student is responsible for respecting the rights of others and for maintaining an atmosphere conducive to study and to harmonious community living. Meals and laundry service are optional.

A person has to be admitted to the University to apply for on-campus housing. An application for on-campus housing is mailed with the letter of admission to undergraduate applicants. To apply for on-campus housing, complete applications should be submitted to the Housing Assignments Office with the required nonrefundable application fee and deposit. On-line applications are available with the use of a credit card. On-campus housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is usually limited for the fall semester, so applications should be made as soon as the choice for housing is determined. Any special housing-related requests or concerns should be addressed by letter with the application. Medical related considerations need to have a supporting statement from a physician submitted with the housing application.

Contracts for on-campus housing will be offered starting in early February for a fall semester and late October for a spring semester admission. If a prospective student is not offered on-campus housing, he or she will be notified to make other housing arrangements.

The deposit, less deductions for unnecessary wear and damage, will be returned to a student: (1) who graduates, (2) who is withdrawn from or denied admission to the University for scholastic deficiencies or (3) who requests a refund on completion of his or her housing contract period. The deposit will be refunded in full if a reservation is canceled prior to signing a housing contract. After a housing contract has been signed for the next academic year, deposit refunds are made according to the dates outlined in the housing contract. If a student cancels the academic year housing contract during the contract period, the housing deposit is subject to forfeiture. Additionally, any cancellation for the spring semester not outlined in the exceptions listed in the contract will be subject to a charge equal to 50 percent of the spring semester's room rent. The term of the contract is for the academic year, or if entered into after the start of the fall semester, for the remainder of the academic year. Exceptions to this policy may be made for students who cancel their contracts for the following reasons: Texas A&M University co-op assignment, student teaching assignment, academic restrictions, graduation or medical withdrawal.

Campus Dining Options/Meals

Texas A&M University's Department of Food Services offers meal solutions with Campus Dining Options (see ) to meet the needs of any student living off or on campus. For the ultimate in value, convenience, flexibility and services right on campus, select a Dining Option. "Eat Any Where, Any Time" in over 30 diverse locations for up to 19 hours daily, fall and spring (summer varies). Get "all-you-care-to-eat" and Guest Meals in the Dining Centers, or utilize Outbound Meals available in all locations campus wide.

Students may select a Campus Dining Option during registration as a Fee Option or through the Campus Dining Office. Corps regulations require members to select a Corps Dining Option. Fee Options will be added and billed to the student account. Payment is made to the Office of Student Financial Services.

Residence Hall Association

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is a student organization with a two-fold mission: (1) to develop leaders within our residence hall community and (2) to act as the representative body for all on-campus students, excluding the Corps of Cadets and University Apartment residents. All residents are members of RHA with representation from each hall council meeting at a biweekly general assembly to share information and voice concerns to administrators about events/issues affecting on-campus life. RHA also allows for a number of student leadership positions, that include five elected executives and ten selected directors, in which students can serve. RHA also is involved in the creation of educational, social and community programming for on-campus residents.

University Apartments

The University Apartments, both furnished and unfurnished, are available to married students with or without children, single-parent families and single graduate students. These apartments consist of 157 furnished two-bedroom apartments, 88 unfurnished two-bedroom apartments, 321 furnished one-bedroom apartments and 84 unfurnished one-bedroom apartments. Off-Campus Student Housing and Services

The Department of Student Life's Adult, Graduate and Off-Campus Student Services office keeps up-to-date information on apartment listings, rooms and houses for rent, maps, shuttle bus and other resources pertinent to the off-campus student. An interactive Internet service called Aggie Search provides students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week access to apartment listings and roommate search options. A roommate referral service is available to help students find a person with whom to live. The Off-Campus Living Survival Manual is updated each spring to introduce students to the community. This manual covers such topics as leases, transportation, security deposits, cost estimates and food arrangements. The office assists students who are experiencing problems with their roommates or property managers and helps students become informed consumers.

Students should begin their search for off-campus housing one semester in advance of the semester they will be needing housing. Information on apartment and rental property in Bryan/College Station can be found on the Internet at aggiesearch.tamu.edu. Students may search for properties and roommates online.
